Sunday Catch-up #33

Whilst most have been bemoaning the rain this week, I have secretly quite liked it as I have been stuck inside essay writing…3 down, 1 more to go! We’ve also been dog-sitting Ruby Soho and I have loved taking her for her morning walk and watching her run through the fields, barking at imaginary dogs. Let’s not mention the fact that this was also the last week of the summer holidays and I have to go back to work next week.

Sunday Catch-up #28

I’ve been a bit of a rubbish blogger again this week but we’ve had my parents staying for a few days and a few birthdays to celebrate. This weekend has been really fun – I spent Saturday morning in Bath hitting the summer sales and getting my hair cut and coloured before picking up my brother and his girlfriend to head to Magners Bristol Comedy Festival. Set up like a mini festival in Queens Square, we enjoyed Pimms and some good food before heading into the big top tent to watch Seann Walsh, Sara Pascoe and Mark Watson. All were great and we laughed a lot!

Today, we had a really lazy morning and lie-in before going out for a delicious Sunday roast. I’m now back home in comfy clothes with tea and Wimbledon on the TV…a pretty perfect weekend for me!

Sunday Catch-up #25

Well, I have had the BEST weekend! I mentioned a few days ago that Ian told me to keep this weekend free as he had booked me an early birthday surprise. I went through every possibility of what it could be from glamping to skydiving to a cookery school to getting a sausage dog puppy but he managed to surpass all of these options…he booked me tickets to see my all-time favourite band The Movielife!

Gig tickets may sound fairly normal but this band were extra special to me as I loved them as a teenager and saw them play once at Reading festival. I then had tickets to see them play in my first year of uni (back in 2003!) but they split up about a month before I was due to see them. I was gutted but resigned myself to the fact that I would never see them play so when I opened the tickets for this reunion tour I actually cried. We ended up having such a fun weekend together in Manchester – I persuaded Ian to push to the front with me to the gig so we had the best view in the room! We have just got home and Ian has nodded off so I through I would squeeze in a quick blogging session.

This week I have been…

Making: our way through the Trafford Centre – such a good place for shopping

Going: to watch The Movielife!

Sunday Catch-up #23

Hello! This has been an interesting week for me as I have decided to try giving up sugar for 10 days…yeah, fun! I kept seeing more and more people trying this and saying how amazing they feel so I thought I would give it a go. What nobody mentions is the killer oh-my-god-I-cannot-even-open-my-eyes headache you get on about day 2 or 3! I seriously cannot remember feeling so bad but then I thought of how it was really just my body craving those toxins which made me determined to see it through. So far (6 days in) I have found I am sleeping really well, my skin looks great and I have lost just over 4lbs since Monday. If I manage to stick with this then I will probably write another post on it with any hints and tips I pick up.

This week I have been…

This Week’s Nails – Peach ‘n’ Birdcages

It has been a lovely sunny Saturday here and after a lazy morning we headed over to South Wraxall (down the road from us) for their village fete. It was a real country village affair with cider, BBQs, music, dog agility and even some little piggies snoozing in the sun!

IMG_1648 IMG_1649 IMG_1651

I know today’s post has quite a random title but I realised I hadn’t shared any nail art for a while! In an attempt to use up some more of my nail stickers and transfers before I buy anymore, I rediscovered these pretty bird cage transfers and paired them with a pretty peach colour – this is Sorbet by Sally Hansen.

This shade took three coats until I was happy with it but it a beautiful shiny pink with a hint of shimmer too.

I decided to use these birdcage water decals on my ring finger and thumb and I love the finished result. x

Sunday Catch-up #19

This has been a week of two halves; at work things have been pretty full on as we gear up for exams next week but this weekend has involved a spa day with my besties followed by a Chinese and birthday cake which reset the balance nicely! It has made me decide to treat myself to a facial or massage a bit more often as I just love being pampered.

I dropped my friend Lucie back at the train station in Bath this morning and instead of heading home to catch up on some work, I found myself on a mammoth spending spree…I’m talking hair products, foundations, nail varnish, shoes, beauty products and more so expect a haul post very soon!

This week I have been…

Making: an effort to start using up some of my beauty products (to make room for more!)
