Life
It’s the summer holidays!!!
I am so happy to have made it to the end of another school year and have a lovely stretch of time off to relax and refresh before it all starts again in September.
I’ve started my holidays with a bang enjoying a garden party with my colleagues which is a lovely way to end the year then having one of my best friends Cat and her husband visit this weekend.
I decided to book us an escape room to do in Bath on Saturday afternoon. I was completely unaware of what it would be like and I loved it! We worked well as a little team and managed to make our way out in 37 minutes. I can’t say too much about it inside in case I give away any clues but if you are thinking about doing one, I would highly recommend it.
I’ve got uni friends staying with me this week then it’s my birthday this weekend so I’m having a lovely first week off.
I go a bit mad with stationery at this time of year as I am getting ready for a new term and I picked up these three notebooks from Home Bargains. I love the prints on them and hopefully they will get me a little more organised.
Ian and I watched the documentary ‘Blackfish’ today which is about Seaworld and keeping killer whales in captivity. It was fascinating and really well made. It’s on Netflix if you fancy a watch.
Food
Earlier this week, Ian’s friend came to stay and we took advantage of the mini-heatwave and enjoyed burgers and beers in the garden of our local pub, The Muddy Duck…they did not disappoint!
I made my friend Cat’s favourite salad for lunch this weekend. I love giant couscous and the recipe for this is on my blog.
We also ate out at Brasserie Blanc in Bath with friends this weekend and it was really tasty. I had the cheese soufflé followed by a huge pot of mussels. All of us agreed that it was classic French food done really well.
Beauty
I picked up this bottle of rosehip oil in TKMaxx. I am a real convert to face oils now and my two favourites from Kiehls are amazing but quite expensive so I thought I would try this one out as a more budget version and see how it compares. I’ve read good things about pure rosehip oil so I hope it feels good on my skin.
I’ve reapplied Essie’s Chillato this week, one of my favourite summer nail colours. It’s a hard one to describe as it kind of sits halfway between a neon and a pastel shade but I love it.
Fashion
These are slightly love/hate…
I bought a new pair of Nikes for the summer as I am determined to up my fitness game over the holidays.
I am going to be blogging a lot more regularly over the summer so expect lots of new hauls, book reviews, restaurant reviews and recipes! x
