This Week’s Nails – Pearls

Phew – what a week! I was slightly annoyed at myself for not managing to post everyday but when I think about how full-on things have been at work, I realise I cannot beat myself up about it too much – it really is about juggling and prioritising things.

I’ve also been feeling really tired and run down this week so have been savouring lazy evenings on the sofa (I was actually in bed by 8:30 last night!) over being glued to my laptop.

I could really do with a quiet weekend but that will have to be put on hold as Ian and I are off to London tonight. My best friends and I are all turning 30 this year so the celebrations start again this weekend with posh afternoon tea and lots of tea and laughter no doubt!

Today, I wanted to share a nail post based on this pot of pearls from Ciate named Girl With a Pearl. This bottle contains large and small pearls that don’t sit too high on the nails.

I decided to give my ‘Jess’ nail varnish another go (available in Poundland) and chose this shade, Swan Lake. I love this creamy cornflower blue colour but I just can’t get on board with the formula. It applies OK after three coats but just doesn’t last. It chips and this time it even cracked along the edge of my nails…there are definitely better budget brands!

Before I started this manicure I picked out the nail pearls I wanted to use and when my third and final coat of nail varnish was still wet, I used a pair of tweezers to place the pearls on the nails.

I decided to have a small pearl on each nail with an extra larger pearl on my ring finger and thumb.

So I am now on a hunt for a better quality dupe of this nail varnish to recreate the look without that oh-so-irritating chipping!

Have a great weekend x

About hannahhotcakes

My name is Hannah. I live near Bath in a lovely village in the Cotswolds with my husband Ian, the love of my life for the past 10 years, in our dream cottage. I have landed my dream job as a primary school teacher and I can’t think of anything else I would rather be doing. I am a self-confessed foodie and I love to cook, bake, and eat out as much as possible. Here are some things I love: My friends and family, travelling, fresh flowers, good books, having breakfast on my balcony, horror films, Christmas, tea, Las Vegas, lie-ins, red wine, Liverpool FC, music, sausage dogs, Spain, rare steak, fashion, cheese, American TV series and camping. And here are my pet hates: People dressed as animals, whistling, being rushed, being made to wait, girls who act stupid to impress a man, spiders, sunburn and rocket (it comes with EVERYTHING!)
