Beauty Review – GHD V Gold Styler

Anyone who knows me will know I have very curly hair and wear it this way most days. I love my curls and am always on the quest for good hair care products that work with my locks.

However, I do like to rock a new look every now and then and it’s amazing how different a curly-haired girl can look with straight hair. To this end, I asked Ian for a set of GHD straighteners for Christmas this year and the boy did good buying this new Gold Styler for me.

I feel I should preface this review with a caveat because I’m not a regular straightener user and I have only ever used two brands; GHDs, which my hairdresser uses on me, and a cheap Babyliss set which turned my curls into a frizzy mess! However, my friends rave about GHDs and I think it’s fair to say they are one of the best options on the market and coming in around the £100 mark, you expect quality for your money.

The GHD V Gold Styler looks incredibly sleek with shimmering gold plates and matte black handles.

It takes seconds to heat up and gives a handy beep to let you know when it’s hot enough to use. I know some people like to be able to adjust the heat setting on their straighteners but I think I need it on the hotter setting anyway to tame my curls!

I have used these GHDs a few times since getting them for Christmas and as a complete straightening novice I am very impressed. It glides perfectly along the hair meaning there is no snagging or pulling and you don’t have to keep going over the same area several times. They are really light to hold and feel quite luxurious.

My next challenge is to have a look online to find a good video that shows me how to create soft curls, waves and flicks with my GHDs as I havent really experimented with them yet.

As a side note, I have noticed another benefit of using these: whenever I straighten my hair, I find that the next time I wash it and wear it curly, I always have a really good hair day! It’s like my curls are curlier somehow…is that just me?

Anyway, if you are looking to invest in a good set of straighteners for everyday use or to just create a different look now and then like me, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this make and model.
