This Year’s Advent Calendars

Well hello and long time, no see! What started as a few days ‘off’ to catch up on work has somehow turned into an inadvertent mini blogging break. On the plus side, my reports are all written, my Christmas tree is up and I have watched an obscene amount of Grey’s Anatomy. However, I have really missed this little online space of mine – more than I thought I would. I feel like I have so much to write about too, some of which I may save for the New Year with a little rejig of my posting routine…watch this space!

First of all, if you follow me on Instagram, you will see my daily posts dedicated to my new loves…my two beauty advent calendars. Yes, I know it’s excessive and a bit much but I bought the Boots No7 offering in October before it sold out then my lovely hubby treated me to the Ciate one as a surprise after he spotted me lusting after it on the Selfridges website. I can almost justify it by the fact that the products inside are worth more than the calendars cost but I cannot lie when I say I rush downstairs each morning to see what treat is awaiting me!

In terms of design, the Ciate calendar wins hands down. The Mini Mani Manor looks like a beautiful doll’s house and contains a selection of nail varnishes, glitters, topcoats and nail caviars. I have already tried a few out and have been really impressed in terms of colour and quality.

The Boots No7 calendar is a bit chunkier but has a wide variety of products inside from beauty items to make up. Over the past year, I have rediscovered No7 skincare and really rate them so I was really happy to get a few more items from the range.

This year, the variety of alternative advent calendars has been impressive and I for one am a big fan!

About hannahhotcakes

My name is Hannah. I live near Bath in a lovely village in the Cotswolds with my husband Ian, the love of my life for the past 10 years, in our dream cottage. I have landed my dream job as a primary school teacher and I can’t think of anything else I would rather be doing. I am a self-confessed foodie and I love to cook, bake, and eat out as much as possible. Here are some things I love: My friends and family, travelling, fresh flowers, good books, having breakfast on my balcony, horror films, Christmas, tea, Las Vegas, lie-ins, red wine, Liverpool FC, music, sausage dogs, Spain, rare steak, fashion, cheese, American TV series and camping. And here are my pet hates: People dressed as animals, whistling, being rushed, being made to wait, girls who act stupid to impress a man, spiders, sunburn and rocket (it comes with EVERYTHING!)
