Beauty Review – Essie Festive Fingertips

As you know, I am partial to a beauty box so when I found out that Boots were going to start releasing boxes from specific brands, I signed up. One of their first collaborations was the ‘Festive Fingertips’ box by Essie and, being one of my favourite nail varnish brands, I knew I had to have it!

There were only 600 released so I feel very lucky to have gotten my hands on one of these limited edition boxes, priced at £24.99 but with £42 worth of products inside.

First of all, the box itself is rather lovely and I think I will use it to store my ever-growing collections of nail art bits and bobs.

Inside, are four full-sized Essie nail varnishes and a gorgeous set of nail stickers.

My favourite shade is ‘sole mate’, an absolutely beautiful deep plum colour.

I also love the gold/ silver glitter, called ‘beyond cosy’. It is so pigmented with glitter that it is a great nail varnish when worn alone as opposed to being another glitter topcoat.

I don’t think I can come up with a better description of ‘eternal optimist’ than the one on the box: a spiced tea rose with a dash of cream. I don’t have a pink shade like this and look forward to trying it out.

The last shade, ‘fishnet stockings’, is a deep yet bright red. Quite a classic colour but still different to the other reds I own.

Finally, the nail stickers which look beautiful. I tried and failed at ‘newspaper nails’ recently but these look like they won’t disappoint.

I couldn’t wait to try a couple of these shades out so created a very festive combination of the dark burgundy shade with a glitter accent nail.

‘Sole mate’ applied wonderfully and was opaque after two coats, drying to a lovely glossy finish. I also used two coats of ‘beyond cosy’ and it is absolutely packed with glitter.

I did feel slightly guilty treating myself at a time when I should be doing my Christmas shopping but this is a gorgeous collection and perfect to wear for all those festive drinks and get-togethers!

I have landed my dream job as a primary school teacher and I can’t think of anything else I would rather be doing. I am a self-confessed foodie and I love to cook, bake, and eat out as much as possible. Here are some things I love: My friends and family, travelling, fresh flowers, good books, having breakfast on my balcony, horror films, Christmas, tea, Las Vegas, lie-ins, red wine, Liverpool FC, music, sausage dogs, Spain, rare steak, fashion, cheese, American TV series and camping. And here are my pet hates: People dressed as animals, whistling, being rushed, being made to wait, girls who act stupid to impress a man, spiders, sunburn and rocket (it comes with EVERYTHING!)
