The seasons seem to sneak up on you sometimes. Maybe it is because you are in denial of the end of another summer or maybe it is because it can happen so gradually it feels like yesterday you were in flip flops and today you are sat next to an open fire warming your toes.
This week I finally gave in and embraced autumn. The countryside around us is changing, the food I want to cook is different and the black tights came out of hibernation.
It was also Ian’s birthday on Monday so we had an Indian takeaway for dinner to celebrate
Followed by a cheeky evening out for champagne, tapas and ice-cream sundaes on Thursday
And we ended the week with a few drinks up our local pub, sat by the open fire reading food magazines and planning all the local restaurants we want to visit in the next few months.
Finally, we popped up to our village hall yesterday to have a look at the produce fair. I am slightly annoyed at myself for not getting organised enough to enter something in the baking category but then again the standard did look pretty high.
I also think my roses would have stood a chance in the gardening section…there’s always next year!
