Well, the will-it-won’t-it snow game came to an end this weekend with a lovely flurry of snow in the South West. It didn’t really settle but, for a few hours, looked beautiful.
Unfortunately with the snow came ice, causing a nasty fall which Ian assures me looked hilarious but has left me with a very bruised knee and a rather attractive limp!
It’s at times like these, when it’s cold outside and you need several layers just to leave the front door, that you want a really tasty and filling meal. Let’s face it; if you leave the house in this weather then it needs to be worth it!
The Real Italian Pizza Company, tucked away on a side street, will not disappoint. This hidden gem of a restaurant is one we go to a lot and we always leave as satisfied customers.
The relaxed atmosphere, and friendly service, is enhanced by the open-plan kitchen which allows you to see the chefs at work as they throw pizza dough up in the air, top them and then pop them into the wood fired oven.
We started with a delicious antipasto platter which included a lovely variety of salamis, cheeses and roasted Mediterranean vegetables; a perfect start to the meal.
Next, we opted for what they do best – pizzas! The traditional wood oven ensures a thin and crispy base with a lovely chargrilled taste. I had one of my favourites…roasted vegetables with a generous helping of goats cheese.
Ian had a pesto and rocket topped pizza (which was a blatant ploy to ensure I couldn’t steal a slice of it!)
They are very liberal with the toppings, which can make it a challenge to finish these pizzas, but the waiters are happy to send you home with a doggy bag and I can confirm the pizzas are delicious the next morning for breakfast too!
I will go as far as to say that these are the best pizzas in Bath so hurry down now and treat yourself! The Real Italian will accept any 2-4-1 deals that you can print off for other Italian chains so there is no excuse not to support this local restaurant.
